Left Wide Local Excision for a patient with a breast implant augmentation
46 year old
- Left upper inner quadrant breast lump in Dec 2013.
- Bilateral implant augmentation – 7 years ago. 34C bra cup size.
- Left wide local excision + Sentinel Node biopsy while preserving left original implant (early Jan 2014)- 24g tissue excised. Histology shows 12mm Grade 3 Invasive Ductal Carcinoma with 18mm of high grade DCIS, margins clear, ER positive, PR negative, HER2-positive, 1 out of 3 lymph nodes contain metastasis.
- Subsequent axillary clearance showed no further metastasis on remaining 20 lymph nodes.
- After surgery – chemotherapy and Herceptin and left whole breast radiotherapy.
- Last mammogram and clinic follow-up in 2018 showed no evidence of recurrence.
