Breast Reduction – Case Study 1
Long-standing–symptomatic macromastia (excessively large breasts)
- In May 2023, I met this is a 57 years old lady with bilateral macromastia (excessively large breasts) for many years and suffered from back and neck pain and difficulty finding suitably-sized clothing and bras. She wore a 32G bra cup size, did not smoke and had two grown-up children. She requested for a bilateral breast reduction operation.
- In Aug 2023, she underwent a 3hr bilateral reduction mammoplasty operation using a Wide-pattern scar (inverted T-shaped scar) and the nipple and areola were preserved in a tissue flap (superomedial dermogladular flap) which was repositioned into a higher position.
- Weight of tissue excised – 404g on left side and 401g on right side.
- Her post-operative recovery was uneventful.
