What to expect after breast biopsy?

For patients who have biopsies for benign lumps, we aim to provide the biopsy results within a week by phone consultation.

For patients who have biopsies for suspected breast cancers, I aim to get the biopsy results as quickly as possible. I advise that the patient should attend another the clinic to receive the biopsy results and have a discussion with my breast care nurse and myself treatment options.

All breast cancer patients are discussed at my weekly Multi Disciplinary Team (MDT) meeting to discuss results and come to a consensus recommendation for treatment. A summary of the MDT meeting outcome will be provided to each breast cancer patient.

Patient who need to be reviewed regular such as patient with previous breast cancer treatment are seen at my regular follow-up clinic. The standard charge for a follow-up clinic consultation is £100.00.
